Reade The Room is a South Hams-based partnership that has been founded by husband and wife duo Ben and Emma.

Ben offers precision painting and decorating services with the kind of attention to detail that defines quiet luxury. Working on residential, holiday let and commercial projects.

Emma creates interiors that prioritise holistic living, whilst incorporating non-toxic materials, natural elements and designs that enhance wellbeing.

Together, they work with homeowners seeking refined, health-conscious spaces, holiday let owners wanting to elevate their properties for discerning guests, and commercial businesses looking to create environments that reflect quality and care.

My father was a traditional sign writer, and I grew up surrounded by brushes, paints, and an appreciation for craftsmanship. When signwriting began to fade in the 1990s, I carried those same values of care and precision into my own work — painting, decorating, and design.

After 25 years in the industry, I started Reade The Room here in South Hams, Devon, to continue that legacy. As a family-run business, we pride ourselves on exceptional craftsmanship, reliable service, and creating spaces that feel as refined as they look — from family homes to coastal holiday lets and local businesses.

Emma

I've spent years working in the Coaching & Wellness Industry, but interior styling has been my quiet passion for as long as I can remember. Now, I get to bring those two worlds together by creating spaces that aren't just beautiful, but genuinely nurturing and purposeful.

As a mum of three, with animals underfoot and a business run from home, I live the reality of needing spaces that actually work. Peaceful corners when the house feels loud, or a functional office that doesn't feel like an afterthought. Rooms where every family member feels at home, and it all still looks the way you want it to.

Because that's what matters, isn't it? Our homes should be our sanctuary, our escape from the chaos, our own corner of the world to fill with the things and styles we love.
