Is your Room flat & boring?

You can spend time & money on transforming a room for it to still feel like something is missing, something’s not quite right.

Here’s where the issue usually lies:

1. Lack of depth in your chosen colours. Even if you choose whites, naturals etc there is still a way to layer these colours to achieve some room depth beyond the surface. No depth? Everything can feel rather flat & non atmospheric.

2. Lack of layers in materials. By this I mean textile & hard surfaces. I love natural colours but if you don’t layer, using different materials, this will also seem flat & non existent. Mix linen & tapestry or silk & velvet to create the depth.

3. Even on plain cream walls, add your layers by using panelling or moulding to create interest to a flat wall. This will bring life to a space without having to use ‘ more things ‘

4. Don’t use all the same material with your ornaments/objects. If you like glass & only display glass, it won’t stand out but simply merge into a sea of the same. Mix it up with pottery or china pieces in the same colourway to add your depth.

5. Bring in the nature!! Literally adding life to a room You can’t match the texture of nature. Adding real plants to a room will bring depth on a different level. If you’re not good at keeping plants, go for something really hardy like a spider plant. Not only do plants improve the air quality of your home but they will soften harsh edges & layer colours.
